Umberto's and the Monks

I know it's not quite in Broadgate, but it's not far, and today, at about 7pm I spotted two heavily bearded monks in brown cassocks running across Fylde Road and diving into Umberto's. Does anyone know who they were and what they were doing at Preston's most famous Fish shop?

No jokes about chip-monks please...

They're probably Franciscans, they live in the former presbytery next to St Walburge's

They could well be, they had brown habits on, and looked like they had stepped out of medieval times, so it was quite disconcerting to see them queuing for a bag of chips and a pickled egg.

The Franciscans as I'm sure they were are great guys.. doing good work with UCLAN students and homeless people.. called under the gospel to be "fishers of men"? and of course they are jolly friars.

I am not sure what we'll do when Umbertos close. I can't remember when I first went but never been disappointed.

(I once saw three nuns in a P-reg Volvo, alas have never been able to make a joke about it)
